Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.

Taawon Launches “Roots & Threads” to Empower Youth in Northern West Bank

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Development, and in partnership with Tamer Institute for Community Education and with generous support from GOAL Global, Taawon has officially launched Empowering the Future: Roots & Threads, a youth-focused initiative designed to support youth in Jenin and Tulkarem who are facing immense psychological and social pressure due to the ongoing instability and repeated incursions in the region.

Taawon and Al-Quds University Launch Training in Heritage Conservation and Site Management

As part of its long-standing efforts to preserve Palestinian cultural identity, Taawon, through its Old Cities Revitalization Program, has launched a specialized training course in heritage conservation and site management. Held in partnership with Al-Quds University and generously supported by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the course runs from July 6 through the end of August 2025 and is integrated into the university’s accredited summer curriculum.

Taawon Delivers Lifesaving Medical Aid to Tulkarem

As part of its continued efforts to strengthen healthcare in Palestine, Taawon delivered a shipment of essential medicines and supplies worth $10,000 to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society – Anabta branch on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The delivery comes as part of the “We Remain Resilient Together” initiative and reflects a longstanding partnership between the two institutions.

This intervention supports the continuity of medical services in the Tulkarem governorate and helps local health facilities respond to growing needs in the face of ongoing challenges.

Taawon Introduces Sign Language Accessibility Tool to Support the Deaf Community

Taawon has launched a new accessibility feature on its official website, aimed at empowering individuals from the deaf community to navigate the site and engage with its content more easily.
This step reflects Taawon's ongoing commitment to ensuring everyone’s right to access information—including persons with hearing disabilities—by making its website an open and inclusive space where users can explore the organization’s programs, projects, and activities without barriers.
 

PAMA Partners with Taawon and JAPA to Provide Urgent Humanitarian Aid to Orphans in Gaza

June 10, 2025 -- The Palestinian American Medical Association (PAMA) has joined forces with the Jordanian American Physicians Association (JAPA) and Taawon (Welfare Association)in a vital effort to support orphaned children in Gaza, committing $1.3 million to Taawon's Noor program. This funding provides essential services, including food, clothing, healthcare, psychosocial support, and education, to 900 children who have lost their families due to the ongoing crisis.

More than half a million children and mothers in Gaza are facing a deepening developmental emergency.
 
Amid war, displacement, and the collapse of health, education, nutrition, and protection systems, children under the age of five are at grave risk. Their bodies, minds, and futures are in jeopardy.

Taawon STEM Program Brings Finnish Expertise to Palestinian Schools

The implementation of the Taawon STEM Enabled School Program is now in full swing, bringing a fresh boost to STEM education across 18 primary schools in Palestine. Launched in February 2025, the program is the result of a partnership between Taawon, the Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP) in Finland, and the Palestinian Ministry of Education, with the support of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
