Taawon organized a Ramadan charity iftar that brought together business leaders, members, and friends of the organization to rally support for the “Isnad” initiative, which aims to sustain university education for students in Gaza amid unprecedented challenges facing the higher education sector.
The evening began with a reception and iftar, followed by a program featuring remarks, a presentation on the “Isnad” initiative, and a cultural storytelling performance by Jerusalem-based hakawati Hossam Abu Eisha.
In his opening remarks, Taawon’s Director General, Dr. Tareq Emtairah , reaffirmed the organization’s long-standing commitment to education, emphasizing that investing in people remains the foundation for building resilient societies. He noted that the impact on Gaza’s universities extends beyond physical damage, affecting their academic and social roles, and warned that targeting education undermines the future of Palestinian society.
Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the critical importance of supporting students and universities during this period. He stressed that safeguarding access to education is a national priority and a cornerstone of resilience and recovery.
The event featured a video presentation showcasing the goals and impact of the “Isnad” initiative in enabling Gaza’s university students to continue their education despite extraordinary circumstances.
Saad Abdel Hadi, Chair of Taawon’s General Assembly, underscored the importance of collective responsibility, noting that supporting education today is essential to protecting the future of an entire generation.
Launched by Taawon in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and universities in Gaza, the “Isnad” initiative focuses on covering tuition fees and ensuring students can continue and complete their studies.
