Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.
Taawon signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Gaza universities to launch the Isnad Program to support university education.
Under the patronage and participation of the Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, Taawon signed a Memorandum of Understanding with several universities in the Gaza Strip (Al-Azhar, Islamic and Al-Aqsa) to launch the 'Isnad' program. This initiative supports students and higher education in Gaza by providing scholarships that cover university tuition fees.
