Mexican Senator José Gerardo Fernández Noroña Visits Taawon in Ramallah and Expresses Solidarity with the Palestinian People and Support for the “Noor” Initiative for Orphans in Gaza
Mr. Saad Abdulhadi, Chair of Taawon’s General Assembly, along with members of the executive team, welcomed Mexican Senator José Gerardo Fernández Noroña and his accompanying delegation at Taawon’s headquarters in Ramallah on Monday, October 27, 2025.
The delegation included Ms. Emma Ocampo Silva and Mr. Emiliano González González, along with Ms. Faten Al-Tawil from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from the Mexican Representative Office to Palestine.
Taawon’s team presented an overview of the organization’s history and mission to promote development and strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people since its establishment in 1983. The presentation also highlighted Taawon’s key programs and projects across the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem.
Senator Fernández Noroña, one of the most prominent
voices in the Mexican Parliament and a strong advocate for humanitarian causes in Latin America, expressed deep appreciation for Taawon’s role in empowering Palestinian communities. He commended the organization’s ongoing efforts in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, and reaffirmed the solidarity of the Mexican people with the Palestinian people.
The Senator noted that his visit to Palestine is part of a humanitarian solidarity tour aimed at gaining a closer understanding of the situation on the ground, particularly the challenges faced by children and families in Gaza following the recent aggression. He stated his commitment to building bridges of humanitarian and social cooperation between Mexico and Palestine and expressed readiness to support and help expand the Noor Initiative to reach more orphaned children in Gaza.
Taawon welcomed the visit as a reflection of international solidarity with the Palestinian people and underscored the importance of partnerships with global institutions and figures who share a humanitarian vision and commitment to advancing community-led development in Palestine.
