Sawsan Masri brings over 25 years of distinguished experience in the social development sector in Lebanon. She began her career in education before advancing to key roles within prominent UN organizations, including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the World Bank. Notably, she led a joint policy advisory unit between UNDP and Lebanon’s Ministry of Social Affairs, focusing on poverty reduction and social development initiatives.
Ms. Masri’s advocacy for the rights of Palestinian refugees has been instrumental during her tenure at the ILO, where she championed employment rights and social protection. She has been at the forefront of implementing critical governmental reforms in poverty alleviation and social development, and her extensive research has spanned national and regional socio-economic issues such as poverty, labor, education, and civil society.
In 2015, Ms. Masri was appointed as the Country Director of Taawon’s Lebanon office, where she continues to drive impactful initiatives. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the American University of Beirut
