Gaza Strip: Taawon, in partnership with the Minderoo Foundation, is supporting the delivery of safe and structured learning opportunities for children in Gaza affected by the ongoing crisis..
This collaboration focuses on the upgrade and operation of five Temporary Learning Spaces (TLSs), providing integrated non-formal education and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for displaced and conflict-affected children.
Within these spaces, children engage in non-formal education in Arabic, English, Science, and Mathematics, alongside psychosocial support activities, including life skills and resilience-building sessions. These activities aim to support children’s well-being, help them regain a sense of routine, and strengthen their ability to cope in a highly challenging environment.
The initiative is expected to reach more than 2,000 children, while also engaging over 30 educators and facilitators. It also supports educators through training in child-friendly and trauma-informed approaches, strengthening their capacity to respond to the needs of children affected by crisis.
Implementation is carried out by MA’AN Development Center, Taawon’s local partner in Gaza, which manages the learning spaces and delivers education and psychosocial support activities on the ground.
By bringing together education, protection, and psychosocial support, this partnership offers more than access to learning, it provides children with a space to feel safe, supported, and seen, helping them take meaningful steps toward recovery and resilience.
