Taawon Concludes 2022–2025 Cycle, Elects New Board for 2025–2028

Amman, Jordan — Taawon concluded its 2022–2025 institutional cycle with a series of annual meetings held in Amman, marking a strategic transition into the 2025–2028 phase. The sessions convened members, the executive team, and key partners both in person and virtually.
The 42nd General Assembly and 107th Board of Trustees meeting reflected on achievements from 2022-2024 and assessed the outgoing Board’s contributions, while addressing the intensifying challenges facing Palestinians—especially in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. Despite adversity, Taawon reaffirmed its resilience and commitment to impactful, mission-driven work.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nabil Qaddumi, outgoing Chair of the Board of Trustees and newly elected Chair of the Board of Directors, described 2024 as a year of extraordinary hardship that demanded increased humanitarian and development efforts. He highlighted major accomplishments, including:
•    Launch of key projects on quality education and up-skilling.
•    Refinement of strategic programmatic directions
•    Executive team restructuring
•    Membership base expansion
•    Strengthening of Jerusalem-based programs
•    Progress on digital transformation
•    Institutional policy reviews
•    Growth of the endowment fund
Board committee chairs—Mr. Abbas Zuaitar (Investment & Endowment), Mr. Omar Masri (Audit & Compliance), and Mr. Jawdat Al Shawwa (Governance, Membership & Nominations)—presented performance updates and recommendations for institutional advancement.
Dr. Tareq Emtairah, General Director, shared highlights from 2024 programs spanning education, healthcare, emergency relief, youth, heritage preservation, and community development. He also previewed strategic initiatives planned for the new cycle.
The General Assembly approved the 2024 audited financials and formally discharged the outgoing Board and executive leadership. A newly elected, streamlined 11-member Board of Directors will guide the 2025–2028 cycle, down from 20 members to enhance governance agility. Elected members include:
•    Chair: Dr. Nabil Qaddumi
•    Members: Khaled Kaloti, Majid Safri, Mona Sukhtian, Muwaffak Bibi, Naeem Abdulhadi, Omar Al-Qattan, Wafa Elyassir
•    Re-elected Committee Leads: Abbas Zuaitar, Omar Masri, and Jawdat Al Shawwa
At the General Assembly level, Mr. Saad Abdulhadi was elected President, Dr. Tafeeda Jarbawi as Vice President, and Ms. Taghrid Nafeisi as Secretary.
The session featured a compelling presentation by Eng. Luay Khoury, “Life After Amputation,” which showcased the use of 3D printing to produce custom, high-performance prosthetics for amputees in Gaza and Lebanon. The initiative underscored how humanitarian innovation can transform lives and promote inclusion amid protracted crises.
In a major announcement, Taawon introduced “Friends of Taawon USA,” a new platform aimed at expanding its international presence and strengthening diaspora engagement through fundraising and strategic partnerships.
The Assembly also paid tribute to Taawon’s lifetime members, honoring their enduring contributions and celebrating the next generation continuing the legacy of service and commitment.
Guest speakers included Mr. Maher Kaddoura, who spoke on artificial intelligence, and Mr. Amer Shomali, Director of the Palestinian Museum, offering valuable insights into the future of development and cultural preservation.
Taawon concluded the meetings with a resounding call for unity and collaboration in facing the growing challenges confronting the Palestinian people.
