Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.

Taawon has signed two agreements with the Canadian Palestinian Professional Foundation (CPPF). The first establishes a strategic framework for joint planning, coordination, fundraising, and the implementation of initiatives supporting Palestinian students in Palestine and Lebanon. This partnership lays the groundwork for broader, long-term collaboration in the education sector.

The team is responsible for translating Taawon’s strategic vision into clear, effective plans and well-executed programs, while providing oversight of administrative, financial, and programmatic operations. Through strong governance and operational excellence, the leadership ensures sustainable impact and steadfast alignment with the organization’s mission and core values.
In a powerful blend of art and compassion, visual artist Mrs. Saeda Elbitar Ghanem has donated a portion of the proceeds from her latest exhibition to support orphaned children in Gaza through Taawon’s Noor initiative.
The exhibition, held two months ago at the Diwan of the Abdul Hadi family and under the patronage of HRH Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi, marked the culmination of four years of dedicated creative work. Elbitar Ghanem’s collection portrayed the human experience with deep emotion and imagination.
