Taawon (Welfare Association) has launched the first cohort of its project, “Developing the Competencies and Skills of Palestinian Youth in Promising Sectors in Palestine,” under the Learn to Lead Programme, bringing together 100 young women and men from across the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The launch was marked by an orientation and kickoff session introducing participants to the project’s objectives, vision, and learning journey. The initiative is designed to strengthen Palestinian youth’s readiness for the labour market through specialised learning and training opportunities focused on the skills most in demand across promising economic sectors.
Participants were introduced to the professional training programmes and microcredentials that form part of the project, aimed at equipping them with skills aligned with current and future labour market needs.
Implementation partners Milestones and AXSOS Academy also took part in the session, presenting their organisations, training expertise, learning pathways, delivery methodologies, participation requirements, and the key milestones participants are expected to achieve throughout the programme.
The session also featured success stories from previous graduates, offering inspiration and motivation to the new cohort as they begin their own professional development journey.
The project is based on a specialised study conducted by Taawon to identify promising economic sectors and the most sought-after skills in the Palestinian labour market. This evidence-based approach helps ensure that educational and training interventions are aligned with employers’ needs and contribute to improving employment prospects and professional growth opportunities for Palestinian youth.
Taawon is currently accepting applications for the second cohort, which will target an additional 150 young women and men, as part of its ongoing commitment to investing in Palestinian youth and expanding access to continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
