Taawon Announces Winners of the 2025 Jerusalem Award

Taawon (Welfare Association) announced today the results of the 2025 Taawon Jerusalem Award [— The Late Ragheb Al-Kalouti Award for Community Development in Jerusalem ("For Jerusalem We Work"). This award reflects the Foundation's commitment to supporting the steadfastness of Jerusalemites and promoting community development within the city. The award aims to honor initiatives and organizations that contribute to strengthening the resilience of the Jerusalem community and support sustainable development projects that respond to the city’s needs amidst increasing challenges.

The 2025 award was granted to:

  • Al-Nahda Rural Society for the Northwest Jerusalem Area: Awarded for the project "Empowering Marginalized Families and Farmers in Northwest Jerusalem."
  • Lana fi Silwan Hayat Association (Al-Bustan Association – Silwan): Awarded for the project "Youth in Jerusalem."

The winners were chosen following a rigorous evaluation process by a specialized jury, which included: Ms. Mai Amireh, Ms. Sana Hasna, Mr. Abdel Qader Al-Husseini, Mr. Ziad Al-Hammouri, and Mr. Jamal Al-Aref.

Mr. Saad Abdul-Hadi, Chairman of the General Assembly at Taawon, stated: "The Jerusalem Award embodies our ongoing commitment to supporting Jerusalemite institutions that play a pivotal role in strengthening the steadfastness of our people in the city. We are proud of the inspiring models of community work and sustainable development these institutions provide despite the challenges."

Ms. Mai Amireh, representing the jury, further noted that this year’s submissions were distinguished by their ability to create a tangible and sustainable impact. She highlighted that the projects reflected an advanced level of institutional work through innovative solutions tailored to the community's needs.

Mr. Rami Mushasha, Director of Jerusalem Programs at Taawon, expressed deep appreciation for the prominent role of Mr. MunirKaloti. He praised Al-Kaloui’s continuous and qualitative contributions to the city, noting that his generous support for this award and other grants has a strategic impact on empowering various segments of the Jerusalem community.

Launched in 2012, the Jerusalem Award seeks to honor Jerusalem-based NGOs that contribute to improving living conditions, strengthening national identity, and supporting the resilience of Palestinians in Jerusalem.
