A CONTINUED
COMMITMENT
TO PALESTINIAN
DEVELOPMENT
In addition to utilizing resources drawn from its own members and from
Palestinians in the Diaspora, WA raises funds from the region through support
committees and public campaigns. It has been a consistent and responsible source
of development funds for Palestinians during a 20-year period that has spanned
continuing occupation, political transition, the state-building process and,
since the year 2000, the ongoing emergency situation in Palestine.
WA has partnered with the leading funding institutions in the Arab region and
globally, including the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Arab
Monetary Fund, Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Kuwait
Fund, Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND),
the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, OPEC Fund, and the
development agencies of Britain, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Canada. USAID
has funded several projects through partnerships with the International Youth
Foundation and with the United Palestinian Appeal. WA has also benefited from
cooperation and technical assistance from UN agencies such as UNESCO, ESCWA,
UNRWA, and foundation grants from the Ford Foundation, and also with support
from Welfare Association-UK (WA-UK) from the European Community; Community Fund,
Karim Rida Said Foundation; and the Princess Diana Memorial Fund and a number of
other U.K. trusts.
